Hahndorf  Club Day 2012/13

Mr Jamie Briggs, federal member for Mayo was one of the honorary guests on Saturday 23rd November, when Hahndorf Softball Club celebrated the annual club day. This year the club took the opportunity to hang the life member’s board at Anembo Park Club Rooms. The Hills Softball Association have worked tirelessly to upgrade the diamond facilities and Hahndorf are proud to use Anembo Park to display the clubs strong history.

The official unveiling of the life members board was attending by Mr Steve Trezcinski, Mr James Harris who are Softball SA executives, Kelvin Williams president of Hills Association and members, friends and families of the club. President of Hahndorf Softball, Geoff May said “the plaque represents history. Our life members created our club, they developed our culture and we are who we are today because of these people. We acknowledge their contribution, celebrate our life members and hopefully inspire other people in our club to reach for this recognition so we can continue to build our great club”.

Betty Tugwell originally started the club in 1978 with one A grade team. Along with husband Don, they saw the club field 16 teams the following season! Certainly a fair effort; it takes many helping hands and Hahndorf thanks everyone who has been involved in anyway. Betty along with the adorable Chloe Davis one of our budding tee-ballers, cut the ceremonial ribbon.

Our life members are players, scorers, committee members, umpires, coaches, in other words regular people that just do extraordinary amounts of work and for extraordinary amounts of time.

Long term club sponsors are: Fairley’s Shoex,  Lions Club Hahndorf, Peter Fairley Carpentry, Great Eastern Hotel in Littlehampton and Greatrex Sports.
